I wanted to be sure I heard her correctly. She didn’t need it anymore because she is mature and can fend for herself without my help.

“Mom, stop scolding me. I’m a grown up girl, remember!” she quipped angrily, and left me wondering what happened to forever love of her life’s promises she made in her growing up years.
