You should have been sure
Before you confessed declarations of love
Before you professed confessions of awe
Before you declared professions of affection

You should have been sure
Before you let her breakdown those walls
Before she let you see those flaws

You should have been sure
For the walls that she had erected
Were only to keep her protected

But you crept in like a skilful thief,
And robbed her of her very essence
She is now a shadow of herself
Locked up in a self imposed hell

Oh! You should have been sure
For your words did seem like balm
But your actions cut like knife
And there was no cure for this ache

You should have been sure
For she gave you everything
But you were just in it for the fun
And you didn't mean the words that left your mouth

And because you weren't sure
A Gem lies broken on her bed
Red eyes and a shattered soul
Because you were not sure
